“Grandfather says: When you feel powerless, that’s because you stopped listening to your own heart. That’s where power comes from.”
~ Gianni Crow
💛 This new year is an ideal time to strengthen your connection to listening to YOUR heart. That’s pure perfection following holidays, where there’s so much noise regarding what to do with your precious time and energy.
I remember the year I stopped sending Christmas / New Year’s cards. 😱 My newborn daughter Amy died in August of that year. My daughter Julia (Amy’s identical twin) still needed lots of care. And, of course, my sons Matthew (5 years old) and Thomas (2 ½ years old) deserved all the love, too. It was a huge relief to let go of what I felt was a time-consuming, stress-producing tradition.
If sending out cards, holiday entertaining, or other things bring you joy or satisfaction and works for you, go for it! If not, what are you going to do about it?
Complaining just accentuates the negative emotions you’re experiencing. Feeling overwhelmed is painful and ineffective. Instead, dropping habits, activities, old stories, old beliefs, addictions, or even relationships that aren’t working for you can lighten your load as you move toward authentic living. This all comes from aligning with your heart’s guidance as you make your choices.
Here are 3 Steps for Starting your New Year by listening to your heart!
- Be thoughtful when choosing the people you want to hang with. Look for kindness, flexibility, and respect of self and others. Be sure to practice these qualities yourself too so you attract like-hearted people in your life.💖
- Recognize that it’s not your job to fix others. Nor is it their job to make you happy. If you can’t accept someone up close, you may need to change your situation so you can accept them from a distance. If you want someone else to change and can’t accept them as they are, you’re putting the responsibility on them to make you happy. That’s just signing up to suffer. Stop that. 🥰
- Know that you’re responsible for your own happiness. If you’re not happy, what are you going to do about it? You may want others to love, value, and respect you, but even more important, are you loving, valuing, and respecting yourself? 🤔
✨ Your happiness is not someone else’s responsibility. Thank GOODNESS!
✨ Connecting and listening to your heart’s guidance is where your power comes from!
As we begin a new year, I’m guided to share these words with you:
I ask to be a guiding light of love and truth today and always.
I ask to remember that pain – mine or others – offers me the lesson of acceptance, compassion, and surrender. As I remember, I’m freed from pretending I’m in control of my life.
I ask to clearly see when I’m trying to control my life, so I can stop clinging to fear and open to the flow of what my life is meant to be.
I ask to be guided to freedom through accepting my life as it is.
I ask that the filters of judgement be lifted so my heart may overflow with the love that I am and be freely be shared with others.
And so it is. 💖
