Judgment: The Mirror That Bites Back

When you judge others, you’re really judging yourself. 🙄

You’re disappointed in your kid for not trying harder in school? 

You’re judging the past version of yourself for all the times you didn’t live up to your full potential. Or, you’re judging yourself for not “being a better parent” (whatever that means).

You’re pissed at your spouse for expecting you to take on all the household chores (on top of earning money, raising the kids, and everything else you do)? 

Sure, they’re being an asshole for not helping out, but you’re also judging yourself for not being able to do it all perfectly. 

Or you’re judging the fact that you have wants and needs you’ve been taught to ignore. 

Or you’re judging yourself as less-than and unworthy (and therefore believing you have to work harder than everyone else to earn their love). 

Bottom line, you’ll judge others critically when you judge yourself critically (even if you don’t know you’re doing it). 

Today’s Challenge:

Pick one thing that you judge someone else for. 

Then explore how you do the same thing, or you’ve done it in your past and still haven’t forgiven yourself. 

For example, if you’re judging your sister-in-law for not feeding her children home-cooked meals every night, ask yourself why. Have you taken on societal expectations of what it means to be a woman and judged yourself for not meeting them? 

Simply bring your judgment into your awareness. No need to change anything. 

As you become more and more aware, you’ll automatically open to seeing truth and understanding your choices (with less judgment and more love).
