What Are You Afraid Of?

It’s OK to have fears.

It’s OK to feel absolutely shut down.

It’s a natural part of life. 

We shut down when we don’t feel safe or have stored trauma. 

That’s why, when your partner throws their anger at you now, you shut down. You’re not just facing their anger. It’s bringing up all the times your dad yelled at you for leaving on the lights or how your mom suppressed her rage and exploded for the smallest of things like when you spilled OJ on the new kitchen rug. 

But you don’t have to keep shutting down, distracting yourself with the latest season of Love is Blind, or running away from the difficult conversations and feelings.

Today’s Challenge:

Embrace the part of you that’s afraid. Just like you would offer comfort to a little child who’s just been hurt. Bring fierce, loving Momma Bear energy to the part of you that’s hurting.

No need to try and fix anything. The healing balm of unconditional loving kindness is more than enough.

Feel this love wash through your mind, your feelings, and your body now. Let it fill you from head to toe. 

And when you’ve done that for the day, ask yourself, what changed when you brought love to the fear? Did your day go any different?
